This stuff really is special

It's been said by others, but I agree, this stuff is special. I bought it for leather chairs and auto seats, but it works well on vinyl and even slightly rougher surface. My old jeep roll-bar pad was really looking worn. I cleaned it first with 303, then applied some of this stuff and it looks nearly new again. Same but even better for leather. So what's so special? It doesn't just make leather shiny, it makes it look newer. An analogy might be wood finishes. If you put a cheap polyurethane finish it looks shiny but it seems to be "on" the wood. That's what a lot of leather products seem to do. They make the leather shiny and slick. This stuff seems to be more "in" the material (leather) after you apply and buff it. It's more like a rubbed in oil finish for wood. I'm sold. It's pricey but a little goes a long way and the difference is substantial.

Must have for leather products!

Bought this for my motorcycle seats. I use it every other month so far and it reconditions the seats leaving them looking brand new. The product does have an odor but i actually like the way it smells, but it might bother some people.

Great Stuff

Originally bought this stuff to do proactive care on a high quality leather biker jacket I bought for $500 and it really makes the jacket's leather pop, but once my girlfriend saw it she started asking me to work it onto a couple of older jackets she had. Works like a champ at restoring those older, beat up leather jackets as well. The jackets were all worn and scuffed in areas, but after applying this stuff generously, they look good once more. Have not seen any other product have as great an effect on quality leather as this stuff.

This is the best

The local Harley shop stocks this stuff, and it is the best for leathercare that I have found. I've shopped around, and I keep returning to Skidmore's over all the others. They essentially claim that it is a polish for everything—woods, metals. I like other polishers for those material, ,but for leather, I can't beat this.

Excellent product, repeat purchase.

It takes a very small amount of this product to bring your leather back to life. Unfortunately, this container was only about 2/3 full. It will still last a long time.

Works as advertised

Prioduct is great for softening stiff/dry leather. I used it on an old leather vest I purchased, and this really softened the leather after two applications. In terms of smell and difficulty of application, I did not detect any smell, and application was very easy- wipe it on, allow it to sit a bit, then wipe off any excess. If you have dry/stiff leather, use this to soften the leather before it cracks!

Great product

This product went on great. Added some needed moisture back into my leather and brought back the sheen especially on the softer leather. Long term will determine its real qualities but for now I am very happy with this purchase.

More conditioner than cleaner, but conditions well!

I have antique nested tables I found for sale. They were not well-cared-for, so I began carefully restoring the inlaid leather, first. I used this product as the first trial. The leather had obvious spills that had pooled into the gold-leaf, embossed areas. I am not sure what they were. This product did not clean the spills. After the application and failure to clean, I used water and fingernails to scrub at the spots. That worked a lot better. Hard on nails, but the fingernails did not mar the leather. The leather needs more cleaning, and I shall try saddle soap. However, the leather is not well-conditioned by this product and will stand up to more scrubbing, now.Given the "antique" - yes, old! - status, I took the right steps. If the leather had not been so dry and aged, I would clean it with saddle soap, first.

Best leather conditioner I have ever used

This is the best I've ever used

I got a small container of this from the person that built my custom seat. I had only been using it on that seat. Didn't realize how great this product is. Then I was reading how to care for motorcycle gloves, and came across several references to using this, and how it was the best. Well, I think it is. I had two pairs of Held gloves, one that I had over-cleaned with saddle soap and they were dry and damaged (from being used when they were dry). There are two small holes in two fingers as a result. The other pair was just dry, but I had not used them since cleaning them. Then I read on a few sites how to clean your gloves. Using lukewarm water. Possibly a tiny bit of soap (like Joy). Nothing else. Get them completely wet. Wear them on your hands in the water. Squeeze them (not wring them) over and over to get the dirt and sweat out of the pores of the leather. I got both pairs clean, the newer pair almost like new. I let them dry. Slowly. I used Skidmore's to rejuvenate the gloves. I applied some, let them set. Did it again. Trying not to over do it, but making sure they were evenly coated/absorbed. When I got done, the newer gloves were like new. The older ones with the holes were also as close to new as they can be, given I had worn them when they were dry. But they were no longer dry. They were not longer being damaged by being used. Still had holes in two fingers. But they aren't getting bigger. I took something I would have thrown away and made them perfectly usable again.Lesson learned. Periodically clean your gloves. And then use Skidmore's to replanish them.I've since used it on several other things, from a jacket to leather riding pants and some other things. It has worked well on everything I've used it on.I've used Leatherique on a few auto interiors, and that works pretty well. But I think this works better. It seems to bring more of what leather needs to get back to it's original look and feel. I'll be using it on interiors I think in the future. Just waiting for the warmer weather before I try it.

A very good product

I have used Skidmore's for all the leather on my motorcycle; seats, saddle bags and heat shield. It does a fine job and keeps the leather in good condition. I highly recommend.

Why I keep using this.

This product designed for motorcycle leather seats is perfect for my convertible car’s leather seats. The car is a 1986 Mercedes 560SL. The seats remain in great shape, supple, not cracked, and not faded. Skidmore keeps the leather like new and protects from UV damage .

Absolutely the finest leather product I have ever seen

The reviews for this product were, I thought a bit over the top when I read them. "Best Leather product ever" and "Can't believe how good this stuff works on leather!" and on and on, so I decided to pay a couple of extra dollars and see for my self. The leather seat on my Honda CB1100 was 3 years old and never been properly treated. It was still nice and soft but was a bit faded. I opened the can and was surprised at how fluid the cream was. Almost the consistancy of honey. I used a small dab of cream from the lid and to my utter amazement, that small amount not only did the entire seat but, in less than 5 mins the leather looks and smells like fresh leather. You know that lovely sweet smell that that really good leather has!I was absolutely Gob Smacked. I can honestly say that Skidmore's is the finest Leather product I have ever used and can't believe how easy and beautiful all my leather goods look now. At first I thought the cream was overpriced but after reviving everything I could find leather at the house, I haven't used more that 3% of the can. It really, is AMAZING. And this one can is gonna last us a looooong time. For me, it is not possible to tell you how beautiful that leather Motorcycle seat is again and that leather smell, yeah, you know THAT smell! If you have leather, you need Skidmore's.Sounds like a commercial. Matter of fact, Skidmore's should that to sell their Cream

Great stuff.

Great product. Has kind of a pleasant medicinal smell. I'm sad I didn't think to take before photos because the difference is amazing! The color is def darker than before but the chairs were so old, faded and dried out that I honestly think the darker color is probably closer to the original anyway. The leather is very soft now! Sitting in the chairs is so much more comfy. I kept being afraid they'd split any moment before the treatment and now they have a more natural elastic give to the leather. We used a little more than half of the 40 oz container on two big leather chairs and I'm glad I went heavy with the application. Took a while and my arms were sore from doing them both at once and I also went back over and buffed them the next day with a dry cloth and it gave them a nice sheen. Great stuff. Very happy with the results. You might think it's expensive but look up how much it costs to reupholster or replace leather furniture and it suddenly looks like a steal.

Amazing leather treatment

This stuff is amazing. I had tried leather honey, leather creme, and other products i cannot remember as they were pretty much useless. I have leather jacket, gloves and shoes. I used it on all of them. Amazing results. Lets compare it to the other products:Leather honey: pricey and doesn't actually soak into leather. Doesn't refresh leather after getting wet, just makes it crispy. Doesn't soak in at all, just stays on top. People swear by it, but i have bought it twice, from 2 different places, and it doesn't seem to work for me.Leather creme: makes my leather too slick after using it. Too shiny (if that is possible) makes leather look plasticy and cheap. Doesn't soak in for 24 hours, so cannot wear item for a full day before protected. Also doesn't improve water resistance.Skidmores: Improves leather softness, water resistance and smells nice. It is a bit oily, but after you put it on leather, it soaks it up nicely. The water resistance was noticeably better. I do reapply after jacket is exposed to heavy rain (in Arizona when it rains, it POURS) I also use it on my leather shoes and my volvo's leather seats. The large container will last a lot longer than i thought. A LOT longer. I treated 3 jackets, 3 seats (2 front and 1 rear bench seat in my Volvo V70) 6 (pairs) shoes, 3 pairs of leather gloves and 2 purses and am still above 50%. Makes me want to buy more leather to use this with. I haven't recommended a leather treatment product before this because none deserved it. This one definitely does.Note: i did use this on different types of leather, including deerskin and elkskin, and works very well on those as well as traditional leather

Great product, easy to spread by hand, will darken light colored leather but that's ok!

I'm a total leather lover, in general. I've always taken care of my boots, jackets, saddlebags, leather seats... I don't "consume" leather, I maintain it. That's for background. So I've tried many leather products and I really like this one. It's easy to spread by hand, it's non toxic apparently, so it's ok to use bare hands. I use a bit of liquid leather soap on a wet rag first to remove dirt and clean the leather beforehand, I let dry and then I apply this cream. Leather will love you for that. It does darken light colored leather. My tan saddle bags are now more like light orangy brown. I'm perfectly fine with that since it contributes to hiding some of the outrages of time. I also restored very nicely an old black leather motorcycle jacket I've had for decades. I promise that you'll find far worse way to waste your money. Actually this is a money-saving investment, for real!

Great stuff! Will be a regular buy for future leather maintenance.

I used this to recondition a gray-looking, dried out brown leather motorcycle jacket (First Manufacturing Top Performer) that had spent far too much time in a box in plastic. Initially, this cream turned the color so dark it was almost black, but once it tried for a couple of days, it just looked overall more healthy, and felt fantastic. Treatment later with the Waterproofing made it feel even more resilient, once it heated up enough to stop feeling tacky.I've subsequently used it on two other jackets and a paid of riding boots to less dramatic effect. It cleaned up one very old and rough feeling non-riding jacket that had gone to a professional cleaner and sat on top of some boxes in a closet for 6 months, after having sat in a closet for about a decade. I never managed to get it to feel smooth and healthy, but perhaps another treatment and/or a treatment with the Waterproofing will help revitalize that piece more. The Leather Cream is very easy to apply and smells great, IMO. Highly recommended.

Impression so far

I will start by saying, i have a new leather jacket (distressed look), with many extra leather patches in key areas of protection meaning that if i ever come off the bike, there is no road rash going to happen if it is covered by jacket. The jacket is heavy when putting on, but suits me well. I decided a little loving care to the jacket before major use and age, i would try this product to add some "element" protection if nothing else, meaning rain!. Have not had a chance to ride in the rain since applying, but i will say, just the difference i see when applying and the "luxurious" look it adds to the leather even being a distressed look, impressive! Deepened the look of the leather while still maintaining the distressed look. If you have ever had leather like this, you will no what i mean. Very nice look to the applied areas, and the leather actually feels softer and more supple, even being a new jacket (1 month old). Leather feels nice to touch after and not like you just applied a layer of oily substance to it, nice touch, nice feel, and nice look. Even after applying to jacket, could swipe my phone screen on incoming call and no "trace" of residue or smear on screen either. I will have to see how long the look stays before having to add another coat, and also see how the rain element has an effect, but even if i had to apply every 2 or 3 weeks, and even if no effect with the elements, i will definitely purchase the product for the appearance it gave the jacket, as well as, the feel of the leather it gave after application. Very nice product, and i will definitely be re-purchasing this product again.....side not.....a little does go a very long way! Must have if you have riding leathers!
